Modify the format in mid-tournament

Last updated on Jan 27, 2026

Yes, you can change the tournament format while a competition is already in progress, but you must be aware of the consequences for your existing data.

Important Policy Information

Changing the format is a major structural update. Before you proceed, keep the following in mind:

  • Data Wipe Warning: Switching the format mid-tournament will wipe out and reset all playoff and consolation matches and scores. The system needs to rebuild the brackets or groups based on the new logic.

  • Safety First: We strongly suggest you save all scores before making any changes to tournament settings. This allows you to manually re-enter data if needed or keep a record of the original results.

Required Steps to Modify Format & Save Data

  1. Download Scoresheets: Tap the three stripes (hamburger menu) in the top right corner of your competition and select Download Scoresheets. This ensures you have a backup of the current match results.

  2. Access Settings: Stay in that same three-stripe menu and select the settings to modify your format (e.g., switching from Pool Play to Single Elimination).

  3. Confirm the Reset: The app will warn you that this will reset certain stages of the competition. Once you confirm, the new format will be applied.

Still Having Trouble?

If the new format is not generating the correct number of matches for your remaining teams, or if you accidentally reset your data without a backup, our technical team may be able to help.
